Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Epsom Salt and Magnesium Chloride?
Epsom Salt is magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄) — it provides magnesium and sulfur, and has a long tradition of use in baths and foot soaks. Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂) is sourced from Dead Sea brines and is often preferred for oral use and DIY magnesium oil due to its solubility and tolerability. Both work well for bath soaks — many people use both and find they complement each other. The best choice comes down to your intended use and personal preference.
Are your magnesium products suitable for oral use?
Magnesium Chloride USP is repackaged from USP-grade raw material and is labeled for oral use as a magnesium source. The recommended daily intake of magnesium for adults ranges from approximately 310 to 420 mg depending on age and sex. These products are mineral wellness products for general use — not FDA-approved drugs or dietary supplements. Follow the preparation instructions on the product label. Individuals with kidney disease, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those taking medications should consult a healthcare professional before use.
How do I make magnesium oil at home?
Combine Magnesium Chloride USP powder with distilled or RO-filtered water, stir until fully dissolved, and store in a glass spray bottle. Our standard recipe is equal parts by weight: 100 g of powder in 100 ml of warm water makes about 165 ml at about 50% magnesium chloride, roughly 75 mg of elemental magnesium per ml. For a milder oil, use 50 g of powder per 100 ml of water. We recommend distilled or RO water rather than tap water. For a ready-to-use option, our Magnesium Oil Spray is pre-formulated at our Madera, California facility using USP-grade magnesium chloride and RO water, packaged in glass.
Can I mix essential oils into my bath with Epsom Salt or Magnesium Chloride?
Not directly. Essential oils don't mix with water, so drops added to a bath float on the surface undiluted and can irritate skin, and bath salts, Epsom salt and milk don't disperse them. Enjoy essential oils in a diffuser instead.
Are these products tested for heavy metals?
Selected products are third-party tested for lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury, and results are on our Heavy Metal Analysis page. Ask us for the documents that apply to a specific product. Our Magnesium Oil Spray is formulated at our FDA-registered facility in Madera, California using USP-grade magnesium chloride and RO-filtered water, packaged in glass to avoid plastic leaching.
